We had been praying for some sunshine since the rains came a few weeks back and much to our amazement the weather turned the corner just in time and helped to make Mawdesley Lakefest 2011 the best of the Lakefest's so far!

This year we decided to run an event on the Friday night and Mr. Chris Gaskell was Michael Buble for the night. Chris treated all concerned to a fantatstic night of swing and sang some great classics like 'Cry me a River', 'Just haven't Met You Yet', 'Georgia' and some Elvis numbers. People came to enjoy Chris's great voice and charming crowd interaction and settled in for a relaxed evening, eating olives and sipping wine or sampling the great real ales.

The main event on the Saturday had record numbers turn out, and with the sun shining, the bands entertaining, the kids playing and the atmosphere electric, everyone had a fantatsic day! We had the usual children activities - the giant water balls went down a treat on our lake, smaller children enjoyed the giant inflatable slide and the odd brave adult had a go on the bucking bronco rodeo horse!

People hired canoes for a serene paddle around the lake, and had a go at archery or went down the zip wire! Whilst all of this was going on we had some amazing live music from bands of all genres from right across the UK. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who played. Ivan Campo, who played last year, went down a treat with the crowd again. Bill Davro, a personal favourite of the boss's wife, a big thank you to you guys. Tim Chu and Friends really entertained and did anyone notice Chirs Gaskell playing the keyboard with Tim? Is there anything he can't do?!! We had two signed acts, who are both playing Glastonbury later this year - Liam Blake and One Sixth of Tommy - a massive thanks to you all, you were sublime. Rebel Territory, Juall and India Mill all played the fest for the first time this year - they had great crowd interation and we thank you sincerely for entertaining everyone in such an inclusive way.

The main highlight of the fest this year had to be T-Rex. They came on all 'glammed up' and ready to rock - and rock they did! They played some of their classic tunes like '20th Century Boy' and 'Get It On'. They had eveyone dancing away by the end and shouting for an encore. They didn't disappoint - they came back out and played a couple more songs much to everyone's delight. We were treated to a great drum solo by Mr. Paul Fenton himself which was a honour to listen to. T-Rex have already contacted us to say a huge thanks to the organisers for looking after them and they said they really enjoyed playing at the fest.

Last, but by no means least, we would like to say an enormous thankyou to all of the people who turned out to enjoy the fest with us - without you there would be no Lakefest at all - we hope to see you again next year.

And that brings us round to the small matter of next year's fest.
